Polyimide has a wide range of uses in life, but do you know what role it can play in components and semiconductors? In this post, the polyimide monomer supplier will share the polyimide semiconductor applications.

How does the polyimide work on the semiconductor?

The polyimide can be used as a dielectric layer for interlayer insulation, reducing stress and improving yield as a buffer layer. As a protective layer, it can reduce the impact of the environment on the device, and it can also shield the a-particles to reduce or eliminate the soft error of the device.

The semiconductor industry uses polyimide as a high-temperature adhesive to produce digital semiconductor materials and MEMS system chips. The polyimide layer has good mechanical elasticity and tensile strength, which helps to improve the polyimide layer.

And the adhesion between the polyimide layer and the metal layer deposited on it. The high temperature and chemical stability of polyimide isolate the metal layer from various external environments.

How does the polyimide affect the liquid crystal display arrangement?

Liquid crystal display is the earliest developed and commercialized product among flat panel displays. Thin-film transistor liquid crystal display (TFT-LCD) has become the mainstream display product due to its advantages of lightness, thinness, environmental protection, and high performance. It is widely used in LCD TVs and notebook computers. And mobile phone screens, etc.

The polyimide for the liquid crystal alignment layer is a condensation curing type polyimide synthesized by pyromellitic dianhydride (PMDA) polymerization reaction at low temperatures. Polyamic acid (PA) is formed, and the solvent volatilizes and dehydrates at high temperatures. And the imidization response occurs, and it becomes polyimide. As the orientation layer, the polyimide film is made by dipping, spin coating, or printing, coating the PA solution on the glass surface, and curing it at high temperatures.

The polyimide film is used as the orientation layer, with a lower curing temperature and a higher glass transition temperature. A relatively uniform film thickness can be obtained, the pretilt angle of the liquid crystal molecules is well controlled, the alignment and alignment are good, and the ITO glass substrate has the characteristics of firm adhesion and good chemical stability.

What are the polyimide semiconductor applications in the LCD color filter?

The function of the color filter (CF) is to realize the colorization of the TFT-LCD panel. The basic structure of the color filter is composed of a glass substrate, a black matrix, a color layer, a protective layer, and an ITO conductive film. The color filter is manufactured. The methods mainly include the dyeing method, pigment dispersion method, printing method, electroplating method, and an inkjet method.
